With rates, how people make money on eBay and Amazon?

I was trying to sell a new PSP on Amazon for $ 195 and the money they wanted commission for $ 31. That is just ridiculous. $ 30 was the amount of money i intend to make as profit, and it gets them. On ebay it's a little better, but ill only have like $ 5 for it. My question is, are all the sellers (especially on Amazon) making this little items they sell?

Some vendors sell hot items and make only $ 10 – $ 20 per item, but sell a lot of items every day. Others sell only a low demand a few items each week, but earn a lot in each. We need to find the cheapest items or more of them, preferably both.
